How a claim makes it onto this site
Start with a claim. Something that sounds like it should be common knowledge about a fee, a rate, or a right — and usually isn’t.
Go to the primary source. The regulation or statute itself, the agency’s own publication, or the report from whoever ran the survey. A news article about a rule is not the rule.
Quote it word for word, and link it. The exact sentence, with a link you can open yourself. Where a number depends on a definition, a date range or a sample, that goes on the page too.
Say where the rule stops. Who it covers, who it doesn’t, and what it doesn’t promise. A right to ask for something is not a guarantee you’ll get it.
If it can’t be verified, it doesn’t run. Claims that can’t be traced to a primary source get dropped or rewritten until they can. Some ideas never make it.
